A summary of the schedule of activities being planned by the Arcadia Host Town committee for the Special Olympics World Games will be the topic at the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Networking Breakfast on June 18, sponsored by Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary. The monthly Arcadia Business Icon tribute will be presented to Arcadia Elks Lodge as a joint presentation between the Chamber and the Arcadia Historical Society. A special ribbon-cutting and large Mixer will be hosted at the Elks the following week on June 23.
Befitting the exciting Special Olympics World Games, this month’s event will be held for the first time in many years at the visually dynamic sports lounge at Dave & Buster’s across from the AMC Santa Anita theater at Westfield Santa Anita mall, 400 S. Baldwin Avenue, Arcadia, Ca. 91007. Click here for map of parking and entry to Dave & Buster’s, since the entire mall will not be open this early.
Arcadia Host Town committee chairman Bruce McCallum will provide an overview of the plans to showcase Arcadia to the Special Olympics athletes from Trinidad/Tobago and the Kyrgyz Republic for three days and nights before they begin competing at the World Games in late July. Arcadia Chamber members supporting and contributing to the effort will also be highlighted, with Chamber member volunteer committee members also making presentations, including Arcadia Chamber Past President Denise Weaver of Weaver & Associates Insurance, Chamber President-Elect Vicki Knight of Century Rooter Service & Plumbing, and a special presentation by local junior Girl Scouts Troop 5801.
