Critically-acclaimed recording artist Lynda Kay, whose big beehive hair look and song stylings are a hip throwback to the Country-Western artists of the 1950s and early 1960s, plans to spend her Monday evening, Sept. 23, enjoying the classic car show and myriad other activities and culinary delights at Taste of Arcadia.
The lounge songstress with a powerful four-octave voice whose new EP set for release in October will feature a collection of classic songs from the early 1960’s pop, R&B, and lounge songs recorded in her own style, will appear at the Taste of Arcadia Red Carpet Experience presented by Printing Control and The Executive Factor, She will also meet with many of the estimated 1,000 attendees at the Classic Car Show presented Wayne Williams’ Professional Advisory Services.
The Arcadia Chamber of Commerce’s annual Taste of Arcadia and Business Showcase at the Taste is held from 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Los Angeles Country Arboretum, 301 N. Baldwin Avenue, Arcadia, Ca. Tickets are $60 in advance and $70 at the gate — Chamber members get a $10 discount on each ticket — and may be puchased online here, by phone: 626-447-2159; or in person during business hours through 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at 388 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia.
Kay, whose songs and visual style would have been a good fit for David Lynch’s edgy “Twin Peaks” TV series, performed in May at the annual show named after the Hollywood legendary custom car maker, George Barris’ Crusin’ Back to the 50s Culver City Car Show, and she was tapped to record two songs for the FX TV series “Justified,” — Jack and Coke and Dream My Darling (videos below).
This week she will perform “An Evening with Lynda Kay” on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Three Clubs lounge in Hollywood. Los Angeles Magazine called her show “Best Concert of the Year” and entertainment trade publication Variety called her a “very compelling talent.” Writer Bruce Vilanch described Lynda Kay as “Amy Winehouse meets Mad Men meets Isabella Rossellini…I love her!”
Kay’s new EP recorded at Capitol Studios was produced by Grammy Award-Winner Brad Benedict (Capitol Ultra-Lounge, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy).
