BOSCO TECH NAMES ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF SCIENCE, ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY
ROSEMEAD, CA – June 8, 2023 – Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) has announced the appointment of Luis Garza, an alumnus and past Dean of Technology of the school, as Assistant Principal of Science, Engineering & Technology.
In this role, Garza will advance the development of technological curriculum, expand the growing robotics programs, guide technology department chairs in the acquisition of new and relevant educational tools and equipment, and keep the surrounding community up to date on the progressive technology being taught on campus, among other projects.
“We’re looking forward to Luis rejoining our educational team,” said Tech President Memo Gutierrez. “His proven ability to move the technology program forward, expertise with current and upcoming design software, and excellent rapport with both students and instructors make him an asset to our campus. Luis also will be creating opportunities for local young people to sample the Tech’s advanced pre-engineering and applied science focus. This focus has prepared generations of Tech graduates for success in science and technology-driven professions.”
While serving as the Tech’s Dean of Technology and chair of the Integrated Design, Engineering and Art (IDEA) program during his 18-year tenure, Garza successfully introduced 3D printing technology to the campus, incorporated robotics into the Mechanical Engineering curriculum and founded the first competitive robotics team, and transitioned IDEA to computer-aided design. After graduating from Bosco Tech’s Design program in 1994, Garza earned a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Entertainment Arts and Animation from California State University, Fullerton.
The only Catholic applied science high school of its kind in the U.S., Bosco Tech uniquely combines a rigorous college-preparatory program with STEM-based studies. The innovative approach allows students to exceed university admissions requirements while completing extensive integrated coursework in one of six technology and engineering fields. The school is located at 1151 San Gabriel Boulevard, Rosemead, 91770. More information is available at www.boscotech.edu.
