Yesterday was one of those extra-exciting days at CASA/LA, a CASA volunteer graduation day. I was sitting in the meeting room that would soon be filled with seventeen new CASAs and decided I wanted to share this with you.
Seventeen new CASAs. That means at least 17 kids will come of our waiting list of 250 (you read that correctly – 250!). It means that 17 lives are about to change, and that’s the lives of the new CASAs. Another 17 lives will have their trajectories totally change as a caring adult enters their lives to advocate for them and show them that they matter.
Seventeen new CASAs. Everything our staff did to find them, recruit them, train them, and get them prepared for this moment is possible because of our supporters.
While sitting in the meeting room I also thought about this room staying empty. No new CASA volunteers. No new opportunities for the kids we serve. No lives changed. That’s where we would be without our supporters.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. If you feel compelled to support our work and help us whittle down our wait list meaning serving more kids right now, I’d be grateful for your donation.
