Congratulations to Arcadia Chamber of Commerce member Denny’s, which was recognized with a 2014 Arcadia Beautiful award by the City of Arcadia Tuesday, June 3, 2014.
Ema Shuton, one of the managers of the iconic restaurant, was on hand to receive the presentation near the beginning of the City Council meeting from Mayor John Wuo and Commission chairperson Jan Shimmin.
The iconic Denny’s at the corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue underwent a major renovation last year which was unveiled last August and included the re-lighting of the windmill on its roof, a feature leftover from the original occupant of the building, Van de Kamp’s.
Denny’s and Shuton allow the Arcadia’s Best Foundation to host the monthly Carcadia @Route 66 in their parking lot to the rear off Santa Anita Avenue, and offers 15% on any menu item to patrons of Carcadia during the car show.
The public is also invited to attend a study session at 6 p.m. where updates will be presented about the recently-completed Gold Line bridge over Santa Anita Avenue as well as the planned new set of two hotels at the location of the current Santa Anita Inn.
