What is the relationship between the San Gabriel Mountains and Arcadia?
The answer will be revealed at the Arcadia Community Coordinating Council on April 6, 2020
The City of Arcadia rests at the base of the majestic San Gabriel Mountains. These mountains cover 970 square miles across Southern California. But what makes them so special? Captain Russell Tuttle will fill us in on the history of the mountains, how they became a National Monument and their relationship to Arcadia.
Law Enforcement Captain Russel Tuttle is a fourteen-year veteran of the United States Forest Service. Captain Tuttle came to the US Forest Service from the United States Air Force where he served as a heavy equipment mechanic and teacher for over ten years in multiple locations around the world. He is a graduate of National American University where he majored in Applied Management. Captain Tuttle has been awarded for outstanding performance in the line of duty. In 2017, he received the United States Attorney’s Office – Central District of California, Law Enforcement Award for outstanding performance for his work on the Powerhouse Fire.
Before becoming the Patrol Captain of the Angeles National Forest and San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, Captain Tuttle worked as a Patrol Officer and Field Training Officer, overseeing Officer professional development, strengthening community partnerships and managed the new fleet vehicle buildups for the Region (California) in addition to his uniformed patrol, civil, criminal case work, and specialized operations assignments.
He has spearheaded a campaign to replace aging and obsolete communications equipment used by law enforcement and fire fighters in order to better equip the Agency and enable it to effectively respond to emergencies and partner with local public safety agencies.
