Mayor Pro Tem Gary Kovacic was among a handful of officials and dozens of customers and Arcadia Chamber of Commerce board members and Ambassadors welcoming the owners of the new Blend it Healthy smoothies shop to Arcadia in the retail center at 411 E Huntington Dr. Suite 114on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 5.
Owner Emily Li is a longtime Arcadia resident whose children are in Arcadia schools, and her marketing manager Adam Alvarez graduated from Arcadia High School in 2003, so they are true Arcadians who are thrilled to provide a healthy refreshment alternative to residents of the town they love.

Arcadia Chamber Vice President Vicki Knight was one of the other officials who made a presentation to Emily and Adam, along with representatives of Congresswoman Judy Chu, State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez, and L.A. County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. Arcadia City Council Member Sho Tay and his wife Sherry were also on hand.
Mayor Pro Tem Kovacic said it was smart and important of Emily to join and support the Arcadia Chamber.
Arcadia Chamber CEO Scott Hettrick congratulated Emily and Adam and noted the strong support the Arcadia Chamber provides, a small example of which he pointed out was the many Chamber board members in attendance — including Vicki of Century Rooter Service & Plumbing; John Sun of Budget Blinds; and Joan Francone of ORI Global — and Chamber Ambassadors, including Vicki, Sho and John, as well as Lifetime Ambassador Don Fandry, and Daleth Cortes of Custom Comfort Mattresses. Arcadia Chamber members Tamara Kato of Comfort Keepers, and Donna Lee of LifeWave also attended to show their support, along with dozens of customers and local residents.
Business cards and customer names were collected and Mayor Pro Tem Kovacic drew more than a dozen of them from a bowl to present excited winners with gift cards for a free drink (winners included Tamara Kato, Donna Lee, Mark Sim of Go To KKI, Li Li Yu of Jeunesse, and Congresswoman Judy Chu representative Viola Van), and three winners received a coupon for 10 free drinks, including GlobalNet Business Consultant Sherry Tay!
Emily says her family recently became more health conscious and realized that fruit drinks that are not freshly-made tend to have added sugars and syrups. Blend it Healthy uses fresh fruit and vegetables each day to create blended made-to-order drinks that are nutritious and healthy with no added sugars and no added artificial ingredients. The fiber of the fruit has a lot of nutritional value, and blending fruit is healthier than juicing the fruit, she says.
