Notice from the Santa Anita Family YMCA
The changes taking place in our society, both nationally and here locally, as a result of the COVID-19/Coronavirus National Emergency are coming at an absolutely dizzying pace now. Our staff and I are efforting to keep all of you as informed/updated as we possibly can. Hopefully you are receiving regular emails from the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles (Y-Metro LA), updating you on the latest decisions from our Y-Metro LA. COVID-19/Coronavirus Task Force. Both their decisions and those of our Santa Anita Y Leadership affect your relationship with our YMCA during this crisis. Here is the latest update and plan for the Santa Anita Family YMCA ongoing operations.
YMCA COMPLETE FACILITY SHUT-DOWN – Effective 12 noon on Monday, March 16th, the entire Santa Anita Family YMCA facility, Fitness/Weight Room area, Pool, Locker Rooms, all Cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, etc), Gymnasium, Racquetball Courts, and Youth Programs Center will be SHUT DOWN/CLOSED through at least March 31st, 2020.
This is done in compliance with LA Mayor Garcetti’s Executive Order late Sunday night, mandating the closing of all gyms/fitness centers in Los Angeles. Since the majority of our 26 LA Metro YMCA’s are in the City of LA, and because our corporate office is also, we are compelled to do this system-wide.
This obviously raises questions for many of you, and our staff is ready and able to address any inquiry.
SANTA ANITA BRANCH OFFICE HOURS YMCA Leadership Staff – Erin, Gabby, Jesica, Julie and myself (Eric) will hold Office Hours Only to greet Y-Members who have not yet received notification of our total shut down (i.e. persons without email, regular non-member visitors, etc) and to respond to questions via phone, email, and walk-ups.
Our Temporary YMCA Office/Admin Hours – March 16 – 31st are
Monday – Friday 10am to 7pm
*Closed Saturdays and Sundays until further notice*
MEMBERSHIP AND PROGRAM FEES DURING THE SHUT DOWN – Many of you have emailed us or every shown up at the front door with workout or swim gear, which indicates to us the significant impact this shut down will have on and your families’ recreation habits. Likewise, we know that many of you are adjusting to shut downs at your places of employment. Therefore, for membership inquires, we have streamlined the process for placing your membership “on hold.” Our sincere hope is that you’ll choose this option over cancellation. The other option for both membership and program fees (Jr Clippers, Swim Lessons, Homework Heroes, etc) is to join us in service to others while supporting the Y and our staff, whose livelihood has been interrupted, by keeping your membership active and/or opting to forego a refund on your program fees *.
For membership questions: email our Membership Director, Julie Flores JulieFlores@ymcala.org
For program questions: email our Youth and Family Program Director, Erin Murphy ErinMurphy@ymcala.org
Whichever option you choose, we will happily process your request!
GENERAL INFORMATION AND RESPONSE – YMCA of Metro LA staff and our Leadership Staff Team here at your Santa Anita Family YMCA are continually working on ways to keep you informed and engaged. For example, in an effort to help you maintain your physical health, we have made the following Y:360 YouTube Channel available for our members, so you can work out while you are away from us. On this link, you’ll find Yoga, Fusion, Bootcampe, Barre classes and more. Please keep watching our webpage (www.ymcala.org/santa-anita) and our Facebook page. Please make it a habit to check those, as well as the YMCA of Metro LA Homepage for the updated “Coronavirus Messages.”
Until my next update, please continue to follow the CDC & LA-DHP guidelines, and God bless you all.
