Condolences to the Arcadia Chamber member Sierra Autocars family of Lathrop G. Hoffman, who died April 2 at age 89.
His obituary can be found at web site of Arcadia Chamber member Douglas & Zook, but we remember him fondly, most recently attending the ribbon-cutting we did jointly with Duarte, Monrovia, and Pasadena Chambers for the opening of the Sierra Chrysler dealership a little more than a year ago (photos at right and below and at link above).
The long-time thoroughbred horse owner, breeder and familiar face at the Santa Anita Racetrack, and one-time President of the Monrovia Chamber, Hoffman began his auto dealer career in 1971 when he purchased the Volkswagen dealership on Sierra Avenue in Fontana. Since then, he has owned franchises for dozens of car brands and has had stores in Fontana, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Monrovia, Duarte, Alhambra, Riverside, San Luis Obispo, Fort Bragg and Eureka.
Hoffman’s business legacy of quality and personal service lives on through his family which continues to manage to Sierra auto dealerships, including Sierra Honda, which has provided great service through its lease last year to the Arcadia Chamber of the CEO-mobile, a Honda Civic, pictured at right on Monday in the Chamber parking lot, and below at the beach.
