Rod’s Grill owner Manny Romero has made a significant water-saving discovery that he has shared with the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce to pass on to our restaurant members and any others who use a commercial ice-making machine.
Manny recently learned that he can save 50 gallons of water every day simply collecting the melting water from the machine which is typically directed via hose to a floor drain.
Manny says he simply redirects the hose to a 40-gallon tub.
The water is clean, drinkable, and potable, so he uses it to wash pots and mop the floors.
The 50-gallons that drains every 24-hours adds up to 1,500 gallons per month and 18,000 per year.
Ingenious! Thanks for the tip, Manny!
