EWD Pulse Newsletter – Initial Insights from the 7th Annual Future of Work Conference
We were very pleased with the response to the 7th Annual Future of Work Conference, which was hosted by the Economic and Workforce Division of Pasadena City College (PCC EWD) on October 28th on PCC’s campus. Leaders from several agencies joined us to discuss how our community is rallying after the devastating fires, and how ongoing recovery efforts are providing support and hope to thousands of local and regional residents.
Overall, our focus was on recovery and resilience, as both are necessary components of a healed community. We learned of the resiliency of agencies that were able to fluidly change course as needs demanded. We also learned that recovery will be slow for some, as many sources of resources have yet to be rebuilt.
This week’s Podcast may be of interest, too; my colleague Leslie Thompson and I discuss our impetus to make ‘resilience’ the center focus of the Conference. Today’s Pulse newsletter shares my conversation with City of Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, and our next edition will cover how our FOW panelists and their agencies are managing in the aftermath of the catastrophe. Thanks for reading.
