EWD Pulse Newsletter – Future of Work #3: Building Pathways Through the Rubble
Greetings!
We concluded our three-part Future of Work webinar series on Thursday, October 29, with a fascinating conversation about how to train and maximize the value of our regional workforce in the aftermath of the 2025 wildfires. Our ‘rebuild and recover’ strategies are novel to this experience and, as a community, we are dedicated to applying the lessons we learned these past two years to reduce the potential damages if and when another such calamity befalls the LA region.
I was honored to lead the discussion with this dynamic group of economic and workforce leaders, and I was particularly interested in their responses to the statistics and queries posed by our partner, Jesse Torres, the founder of Arroyo West, a consultancy focused on helping community partners collaborate on complex civic challenges. The three panelists certainly didn’t disappoint, and I’m certain that all our listeners left the webinar better informed and more inspired about the recovery than they were before. (Note: today’s Pulse article sets the stage for the discussion. Our next edition (11/17) will cover what we talked about, and the conclusions we were able to draw. Be sure to read that one, too.)
On today’s Podcast, we’re talking about reducing barriers to career pathways with Jesse Diaz, Director of Propel America’s Market Development LA. And on the Pulse newsletter page, you’ll find the notes from our first two Future of Work Webinars, as well as links other growth drivers in the LA region.
