Monrovia Garden Club
April 25, 2023
7pm, Fellowship Hall–1st Presbyterian Church
Corner of Myrtle and Foothill, Monrovia
Featured Speaker: Richard Schulhof-CEO of the Los Angeles County Arboretum.
We are fortunate to have in our back yard the LA County Arboretum, one of the nation’s premier botanical gardens. Richard Schulhof has served as CEO of the Arboretum since 2009. Richard will be retiring later this spring or early summer. We are lucky to have him speak to us on the eve of his retirement. Richard has devoted his career to public gardens, with over 30 years sharing the wonders of nature with the public and providing thousands of students with field trips and life science explorations. Before coming to the Arboretum, he was deputy director of Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum and executive director of Descanso Gardens. He holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from U.C. Berkeley, and graduate degrees in botanic garden administration from the University of Delaware, and in forestry from Harvard University. In what may be one of his last public engagements before retiring, he will share with us some history of the LA Arboretum, the evolution of the garden during his tenure and some of the plans for the future including the current construction of a new visitor’s center. Join us for an interesting evening. Come at 6:30 to socialize. Meeting starts at 7pm.
