ABOUT THE HONOREE
ARCADIA, CA – Each year, The City of Arcadia’s Recreation & Community Services Department seeks nominations for an outstanding individual, age 55 or older, lives in Arcadia and has contributed to better the Arcadia community. The nominations are carefully reviewed and voted upon by the Arcadia Senior Citizens Commission. Congratulations to the 2024 Senior of the Year, Arlene Weiss. Arlene is a dedicated volunteer for the City of Arcadia’s Senior Services Program. Arlene plays an integral role in assisting with Monday Dances, Senior Meals, and Senior Special Events, ensuring the programs run smoothly and successfully. Arlene also took on the lead for the “Call a Friend” program, where she personally reaches out to seniors each week through calls and texts, offering companionship and support to those who may feel isolated. Her outreach has made a meaningful difference to those participating in the program. The City of Arcadia proudly recognizes Arlene for her dedication in making Arcadia a better place for seniors. Her generosity and kindness exemplify the true spirit of Arcadia. Arlene will be honored at the Older American Recognition Lunch, hosted by Los Angeles County Commission for Older Adults and the Department of Aging & Disabilities in May. Additionally, she will also be honored at the Arcadia City Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
