Foothill Transit Community News for October 2026
A Little Less Traffic. A Little Cleaner Air. A Free Ride.
Give your car and your commute a break this California Clean Air Day, Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Foothill Transit and other participating transit agencies across Southern California are offering FREE rides, giving you one more reason to leave the driving to someone else.
California Clean Air Day brings people, businesses, and communities together to take action for cleaner air. It’s a chance to try everyday changes like taking transit instead of driving by yourself! That one step alone helps reduce pollution and protect the air we share.
Head to work, run an errand, or explore somewhere new. Taking transit means you can skip the cost of gas and the search for parking while doing something good for your community.
Start with one trip you would normally make by car. Check our Trip Planner or call 800-RIDE-INFO (743-3463), choose your route, and enjoy the ride.
Want to do more? Take the California Clean Air Day pledge and choose actions that fit your day, from riding transit to planting a tree or changing your home’s air filter.
Cleaner air starts with everyday choices. On October 7, start your Clean Air Day at the Foothill Transit bus stop. See the Coalition for Clean Air for more information.
Ready, Set, ShakeOut!
A little practice now can help you react quickly when an earthquake strikes. On Thursday, October 15, at 10:15 a.m., Foothill Transit will join millions of Californians in the Great California ShakeOut, an annual earthquake preparedness drill.
If safe to do so, our bus operators will pull over and explain what riders would be instructed to do during a real emergency. Our office staff will also practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On.
Take a moment to review what to do wherever you are:
-
Indoors: Move only a few steps to safety. Drop to the ground, take cover under a sturdy desk or table, and hold on until the shaking stops. Stay inside until it’s safe to exit.
-
Outdoors: Find a clear spot away from buildings, trees, streetlights, and power lines. Get low, protect your head and neck, and stay there until the shaking stops.
-
Driving: Pull over to a clear location and stay buckled in until the shaking stops. Then proceed cautiously, avoiding potentially damaged bridges and ramps.
Identify nearby safe spots now—when an earthquake hits, you may have only seconds to respond. Learn more about Drop, Cover, and Hold On.
