Los Angeles Diamond Lions Club: Senior Care Santa Anita Convalescent Hospital Donation Activity
Thank you very much to every caring person in the community and our Lions club brothers and sisters representing the Los Angeles Diamond Lions Club for participating in the donation activity to Santa Anita Convalescent Hospital in Arcadia at 10 am on February 25, 2021. This is the second time our Lions Club has cooperated with this hospital, to help the elderly and disabled in local nursing homes and long-term care facility centers whose lives have been severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the club members donated masks, mask extenders, and medical goggles and so on, for the daily necessities required by the hospital.
There were nearly 20 people who attended to donate more than 40,000 pieces of disposable and KN95 masks, 500 mask extenders, and several hundred dollars amount in love, at the Diamond Lions Club’s charity event in the elderly community. Every caring person present felt the joy of helping the elderly and felt warm. Here, we Lions members have also fully carried the Lions Club’s spirit of mutual help, and we have brought the spirit into the community! Present at the meeting were Chantell Lopez, representative of Santa Anita Convalescent Hospital, April Verlato, former chairman of Arcadia and current councilor, Tom Manger of Host Lions Club of Pasadena, and Cheng Boren, councilor of Arcadia. He also joined our lions club today and became the newest member of our club!
We appreciate Annie Wang, the event organizer, and Larry Liu, the co-organizer, for their hard work, the club president Angel Peil who gave instruction, Charter president Kenny Shu who came to support, District Chairman Jany Huang who kindly donated. Thanks to our volunteer team-club vice president Linger Chu, Frank Chu, Cecilia Wang, Cindy Wang, Ryan Wang, Dana Cheng and the volunteer lions behind the scenes, Lisa Yang, Coco Wang, Lilian Lee, Nina Wang, Xueland Cheng, Ann Tsai, Wei Huang, Grace Huang, Nicky Zhang.
The Los Angeles Diamond Lions Club is the largest Chinese Lions Club in the United States. It is a benchmarking organization. During the epidemic, it once invited senior detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department to promote self-defense. During the Bob Cat Mountain Fire they donated nearly 10,000 dollars, and they participated the International Lions Club Children’s Peace Poster Contest, they co-organized charity donations of 100 turkeys and toys with Bank of the West, they organized student speaker contests, cared for blind children, cerebral palsy patients and other groups. We hope that our small efforts will resonate and make the lives of the people around us who need help better. Let us pass on the relay of love in the days to come!
