March News Splash from Upper San Gabriel Valley Water District
Introducing … Logo Reveal!
The Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District hit a new milestone recently, with the unveiling of a new logo and agency image on February 21, 2025. This initiative was led by the Board of Directors and received input from staff, and district takeholders. The Board approved the new logo and moniker “Upper Water” to provide a descriptive, and recognizable name for the community that identifies the work of the agency. The Board also approved a new motto: “Championing Water Resilience” for the San Gabriel Valley. It marks a significant turning point for the district, reflecting both its growth and continued commitment to the public.
Since its inception, the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District has remained steadfast in consistently meeting our region’s need for a reliable, high quality and affordable imported water source. Some 65 years ago, the region, led by its water suppliers, voted to create an agency that would provide a unified and visible representative for the region’s water needs. As the agency evolved, Upper Water consistently led the region with a “history of firsts” that drove innovation and collaboration which laid the foundation for sustainable water management. Upper Water remains committed to educating the region in water stewardship and conservation; serving as a regional voice for water policy; and ensuring the reliability of our local water supply through imported water deliveries.
The “Upper Water” logo continues to reflect our core mission of water deliveries for the Main San Gabriel Groundwater Basin, environmental stewardship and the geography of the San Gabriel Mountains. The logo provides the public with a clear and modern understanding of the agency and role in the region.

Water-Smart Landscaping: Free March Workshops
Upper Water has two landscaping workshops scheduled for March! The first is a virtual session on Tuesday, March 4, focused on California Friendly Native Plant Landscaping. Learn how to choose local native plants that reduce water use, manage irrigation efficiently, and retain rainwater on your property. The second workshop will be held in person at Upper Water headquarters in Monrovia on Thursday, March 20, during Fix-a-Leak Week. This session will cover outdoor leak detection, teaching participants how to identify leaks outside their homes and pinpoint their sources. Both workshops are free for Upper Water residents. Fix A Leak Week
Drip. Drip. Drip. March brings two important weeks: Groundwater Awareness Week and Fix-A-Leak Week!
Did you know an average American household wastes nearly 10,000 gallons each year from easy-to-fix water leaks—that’s the amount of water needed to wash 300 loads of laundry. If that doesn’t seem like a lot, consider that across the country, easy-to-fix household leaks can add up to nearly 1 trillion gallons of water lost every year.
Let’s do all that we can to protect our water. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is encouraging homeowners to be proactive, especially during the annual Fix a Leak Week, March 17th through March 23rd, 2025. Stay tuned to our social media that week on easy steps you can take to help save water in the community now and for future generations.
