PCC Future of Work Educational Series – Why Environmental Recovery Matters
Rebuilding after the Eaton Fire isn’t just about restoring structures. Wildfire debris can leave elevated levels of heavy metals and other contaminants in soil, affect regional air quality, and hillside runoff can impact local water systems during rain. These concerns shape when and how families can safely return home, what remediation work needs to happen first, and what long-term monitoring the community will need.
Talking about environmental recovery alongside infrastructure and workforce isn’t a side conversation. It’s a foundational part of restoring the Altadena we know and love.

Why a Webinar Series?
In 2026, the Future of Work Conference became a three-part webinar series. The first session, Public Interest Rebuild and Community Delivery Systems, launched June 4th.
We are excited to continue the conversation with our second webinar and facilitate the discussion of how we, as institutions, business owners, and community members, can play a role in the recovery of the Altadena community.
Looking forward to seeing you September 3rd.

Dr. Salvatrice Cummo
Vice President, Economic and Workforce Development
