Project: Blowsparks – A Bold New Force in Youth Music, Pushing the Boundaries of Expression – at the Arcadia Community Coordinating Council
Arcadia, CA – Project: Blowsparks is more than just a band – it’s an experiment in allowing young artists to explore music without constraints, embracing full creative freedom from an early age. The band, led by the powerhouse vocals of 12-year-old Olivia Hong, brings together the unique talents of a group of passionate and driven youth. Each member contributes their individual flair, creating a dynamic and bold sound that resonates with a wide audience.
Olivia Hong, a 12-year-old vocal prodigy, leads the charge with her commanding, emotionally charged performances. Ethan Liu (16) is the creative force behind the band’s full-bodied sound, effortlessly blending his vocals with the sweeping melodies he plays on the keyboard. Kovas Radvenis (15), who joined the band in August 2022, brings an edge to the group with his electrifying guitar riffs, influenced by his love for metal. Meanwhile, 13-year-old Katie Hong (Olivia’s older sister) adds a powerful, rhythmic backbone to the band with her energetic drumming.
Project: Blowsparks first debuted at the 2019 Downtown Arcadia Patriotic Festival, a performance that immediately showcased their raw talent and infectious energy. The trio of Olivia, Ethan, and Katie formed the band and have since performed across a variety of events, building a loyal following. The addition of Kovas brought an exciting new dimension to the group’s sound, rounding out their lineup with intense, electrifying guitar work.
Since their formation, Project: Blowsparks has become a staple at local fundraisers, community events, and music festivals, offering their high-energy performances to diverse audiences. Highlights of their performances so far include feature slots at renowned events such as the 626 Night Markets in Arcadia and Orange County, FoodieLand at the Rose Bowl, Relay for Life at Santa Anita Park, and the OC Fair at the Orange County Fairgrounds. In addition to larger festivals, the band has also played in smaller, intimate venues across the San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire, further establishing themselves as an up-and-coming force in the local music scene.
