Nearly 50 attendees applauded as the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce formally cut the ribbon this morning (Tuesday, March 24) on the eye-catching Forest Lawn kiosk prominently positioned in the center court area of Westfield Santa Anita mall in Arcadia (where the carousel used to be).
Forest Lawn’s regional manager of Arcadia, Sophia Chan, introduced Richard Zook of Forest Lawn’s Douglass & Zook Mortuary Service based in Monrovia that has been around the area for more than a century. Arcadia Chamber CEO Scott Hettrick noted that Zook is also an Ambassador of the Arcadia Chamber. He also introduced other Chamber members supporting by attending the event, including board member John Sun of Budget Blinds; Lifetime Ambassador Don Fandry of the Elks Lodge, as well as Roberta Armijo representing the Woman’s Club as well as her own financial services business.

Sophia Chan invited Gonzalo Gutierrez, regional manager of Glendale, to join her in accepting certificates of congratulations from Violet Van, representing Congresswoman Judy Chu; John Sun, who presented a certificate on behalf of Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez; field rep Adam Hsu from the office of Arcadia-based Assembly Member Ed Chau; and Brian Mejia, representing L.A. County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. San Gabriel CEO Sandy Rosco was also on hand and joined with board member Victor Buell in presenting a certificate to Sophia and Gonzalo.
The kiosk features a “Celebration of Life” theme and offers information about the non-profit Forest Lawn’s beautiful parks as well as museum and all the free community events Forest Lawn hosts throughout the year.
Attendees enjoyed gourmet appetizers of fruit on crackers, small ham and egg sandwiches and many other tasty treats and drinks at the event that began at 9:30 a.m. just before mall stores opened.
