Another nine new members joined the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce in February and many of them were introduced to the Ambassadors this morning (March 3, 2015) by February Personal Ambassador Lauren Worsley of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Every new member is invited to the Chamber on the first Tuesday of the month to receive a plaque and showcase their business. Six of our new businesses were able to join us today.
- Cafe Lumar is located at 136 E. Colorado Boulevard in Monrovia 91016. Dragica Gravovac is the owner and was present to accept the new member plaque from the Chamber. Dragica indicates that her restaurant has been open for two years. They are getting good reviews on Yelp and from other web-based review sites. Cafe Lumar is noted for it’s great crepes, stuffed cabbage, lamb shank and goulash. Cafe Lumar is part of Old Town Monrovia and will be participating in this year’s Taste of Arcadia. - Los Angeles Media Group (Los Angeles Times) represented by Faith Ratner is thrilled to be a new member of the Chamber. Faith Ratner is the area representative and has worked for publications in and an around Arcadia for the past six years. Her current focus is on real estate advertising. In fact the times has a great publication called Ultimate Address which is a beautiful advertising supplement that is distributed with the paper and throughout the area. - The A Treatment Center is located at 127 Madison Avenue #302 in Pasadena 91101 between Union and Walnut. Arolyn Burns LPCC, LMFT and the entire team of dedicated professionals at The A Treatment Center specialize in stress, anxiety, fears, phobias, PTSD and performance on tests, sports and stage. They will work with you to help pass the BAR or SAT and reduce anxiety. They offer Anger management classes and sobriety support. They also do marriage, family, grief and loss and other types of counseling as well. Arolyn was born at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia and is a strong advocate for community involvement. - The Law Office of Tom R. Medrano is located at 300 North Lake Avenue, Suite 230, Pasadena 91101. Tom Medrano is a criminal law trial attorney with 36 years legal experience. He was represented this morning by legal assistant Maryel Albarran. Tom graduated from UC Berkeley and provides legal services throughout Southern California. Some of the areas of practice include murder/homicide, government fraud, robbery, internet crimes, criminal assault and illegal searches and seizure. - Lani Lee owner of Beauty Culture gladly accepted her plaque at this morning’s gathering. Beauty Culture is located at 715 1st Avenue # A in Arcadia 91006. Beauty Culture is a spa service offering a wide variety of skin care treatments and products. They are open seven days a week. Lani purchased this business six months ago and is already becoming an important part of Arcadia offering quality spa treatments. She recently attended our successful mixer at Dave & Buster’s where she donated two $120.00 Gift Certificates to her spa. - Pepper Tree Grill is located at 322 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre 91024. Ryan Lopez was in the house to accept the plaque for Pepper Tree. He describes the cuisine as Argentine Fushion. Whether you go for the empanadas or visit them for Taco Tuesday you are sure to enjoy the delicious food and nice atmosphere. May 1st will be the second-year anniversary for the restaurant. Ryan indicates that they have dancing and live entertainment on the weekends. You can go for dinner and then have a drink and stay for the entertainment. Vicki Knight of Century Rooter Service and Plumbing shared that, as always, they are ready, willing and able to help with all of your plumbing needs. She also noted that shortly after attending the recent mixer at Dave and Buster’s she gave her Power Card to woman with children celebrating a birthday to play games and the woman was ecstatic and said it made her day because she didn’t have enough money for all the children to play, and now they could.
Sylvia Ramos of Dilbeck Realty discussed the quality and importance of relationships in our lives. She thanked Vicki for making a personal call to her to keep in touch and keep alive those very personal relationships we share through the Chamber. Sylvia indicates that her husband Mark Ramos of Vista Paint is in the midst of some major projects involving commercial buildings, including major new building for his own company.
Ivan Lai of Cruise Planners just finished the Los Angeles Travel show in Long Beach. Ivan was pleased to get bookings right on the spot. Ivan is currently focused on river cruises in Europe.
Don Fandry, one of our two Ambassadors for Life is on the Board of the Los County Retired Employees Association. Don is busy with a variety of activities including his work on the Board and his dedication to the Elks Lodge, particularly the weekly Bingo!
Rick Zook of Forest Lawn Memorial Park & Mortuary is getting back into the swing of things after a brief hiatus from work. On April 16 Douglass and Zook, which is based in Monrovia, will be staging a mixer with the Monrovia Chamber of Commerce. Rick thanked the Arcadia Chamber for a recent tower of treats that was sent his way.
John Sun of Budget Blinds thoroughly enjoyed the mixer at Dave and Buster’s. In fact he came back to Dave and Buster’s a couple days later and they were kind enough to re-load his power cards for his kids.
Mary Hansen is also an Ambassador for Life and came dressed all in green to kick off St. Patrick’s month. She thanked everyone for the cake we presented her to celebrate her recent birthday. Mary is busy with the Arcadia Coordinating Council as well as a myriad of other organizations. Mary is a gem!
City Councilmember Sho Tay expressed his disappointment that the City’s planned trip to China has been canceled but is glad it will enable him and other City officials to attend the Arcadia Chamber’s March 26 Installation Dinner, and pleased that Arcadia Chamber CEO Scott Hettrick has arranged to make a trip to China available for city officials through the Chamber at any time this year — City officials are offered to travel without costing any more than their own planned trip and without requiring officials to solicit any donations.
Sheree Tromblee of Weaver & Associates indicates they are off to a strong new year at Weaver. They are working on a newsletter so Sheree is quite busy these days.
Lauren Worsley of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life indicates they are looking for volunteers and donations for the Relay for Life. So sign up today. Lauren indicates they may be partnering with Nordstrom.
