On March 11 the City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Historical Society held a sold-out event consisting of tea, treats and a vintage fashion show at the Arcadia Recreation and Community Services Center. This lovely, rainy afternoon did not deter guests, who packed the Community Center to view vintage outfits and classic Model A cars parked out front, provided by the Santa Anita A’s, Model A Car Club.
Raffle prizes were donated from Vintage Treasures and Antiques Arcadia, the Pasadena Women Network via Kristy Thatcher Bradshaw, and Matt Denny’s Ale House Restaurant.
Pianist Wanda played music while ladies enjoyed hot tea, cucumber sandwiches and homemade lemon bars.
Carol Libby of the Arcadia Historical Society and Katherine Bernal of the City of Arcadia put the event together. Carol acted as event chair and emcee. She is a 60 year resident of the city of Arcadia and is author of several books on the history of the city. Carol was also voted 2016 Arcadia Senior of the Year.
Vintage clothing and hats were provided by sponsor, Vintage Treasures. Other sponsors included Silverado Memory Care, The Fresh Gourmet and the Peacock Cafe, along with Glen Park Healthy Living. Arcadia Gardens Retirement Hotel provided fresh pastries, and the Arcadia Chinese Association donated delicious cupcakes. Catherine Hu, PhD. O.M.D., Doctor of Oriental Medicine and founder of Advanced Acupuncture, Inc. Arcadia also sponsored the event.
