Officials from the City, County, State, and Federal Governments as well as the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce welcomed the trio of owners of the new authentic Mexican restaurant Villa Catrina Thursday during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the former Domenico’s at 251 N Santa Anita Avenue on Thursday, June 27.
In front of dozens of attendees from the Chamber’s board of directors and Ambassadors as well as a group of Downtown Arcadia property and business owners, Villa Catrina owners Gabriel Sanchez, Jose Jimenez and Jaime Magdaleno were presented certificates by Arcadia Mayor Pro Tem Gary Kovacic, Viola Van on behalf of Congresswoman Judy Chu, Clayton Arick from the office of California State Sentaor Ed Hernandez, Miguel Segura on behalf of Assembly Member Ed Chau, Brian Mejia representing L.A. County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, and Arcadia Chamber Vice President Vicki Knight of Century Rooter Service and Plumbing.

Arcadia Chamber CEO Scott Hettrick noted Villa Catrina is one of the few venues that offers all hard-to-find Dodgers games on the many TVs in the restaurants spacious dining room at no extra charge.
Gabriel and Jose thanked everyone for their support and praised the City of Arcadia for making their business opening as smooth as possible.
A Mariachi band began play immediately following the ceremony, entertaining all attendees, including owner of the Villa Catrina property Ron Mills and son Johnathan, owners/managers of the nearby Arcadia Blues Club, Bobby Dahms and wife Maria, as well as City of Arcadia Economic Development Manager Jerry Schwartz, all of whom then enjoyed a buffet of delicious food and drinks during the Happy Hour that followed the later afternoon ceremony.
