This afternoon (April 27, 2017) marked the 4 year anniversary of the founding of the Friends of the Gilb Museum featuring food donated by Dave & Buster. The organization was founded by former mayor of Arcadia Floretta Lauber with the purpose of aiding the growth of the museum through raising funds and awareness. The Freinds of the Gilb was honored with certificates from a representative of Supervisor Kathryn Barger and Mayor of Arcadia Peter Amundson. The Gilb Museum stands as an integral part in preserving and illustrating the expansive history of Arcadia.
The Gilb Museum curates a wealth of permanent exhibitions, ranging from famous people of Arcadia to the use of Santa Anita Park as a Japanese Assembly Center. In the back of the museum as an open space reserved for temporary exhibits, currently the space is reserved to feature art from local San Gabriel artist Kathryn Hansen.
