The Gilb Museum of Arcadia remembered the enormous contribution Past Arcadia Mayor Floretta Lauber made on the community during their renaming ceremony of their Education Center. The attendance was quite large consisting of current Arcadia Mayor Peter Amundson, Arcadia City Councilmembers, city officials, local legislative representatives and many people form the community. The afternoon’s event started with an introduction given by Darlene Bradley, Director of Library and Museum Services, to the renaming ceremony. After speaking on how she was affected by Floretta Lauber’s many contributions to Arcadia and service as not only a pillar of the community but as an inspiring friend, the current Mayor Peter Amundson was given an opportunity to speak. Peter elaborated on some of his first interactions with Floretta, telling how even after her service as Arcadia Mayor and subsequently Arcadian Councilmember she would still stay connected with the many events within Arcadia. The event featured a fully curated table of past memorabilia from Floretta, these included her ceremonial hard hat, gavel, name badge, and countless newspaper articles highlighting her achievements. In support of Floretta’s traditional values, the Friends of the Gilb Museum provided guests with Root Beer Floats.
