The 2013 Breeders’ Cup and Goodie Girls, the award-winning bakery, have teamed up again for the fun and delicious tradition of creating an Official Breeders’ Cupcake to celebrate the premier event in international horse racing.
This year’s flavor, Pumpkin Pancake is a Goodie Girls classic and captures the essence of fall with a spiced pumpkin cake with a maple drizzle, frosted with a maple buttercream and topped with chopped toasted pecans. In addition, Goodie Girls will be offering a Breeders’ Cupcake Collection of cupcakes in four flavors that includes Pumpkin Pancake, Chocolate Salted Butterscotch, Strawberries n’ Cream and Carrot Ginger. Over 8,000 cupcakes are expected to be consumed during Breeders’ Cup Week, with the 30th running of the World Championships taking place November 1-2 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.
Cupcakes can be purchased for $3.50 individually and $39 for a dozen at the Goodie Girls bakeries in Glendale and La Cañada Flintridge. One Dollar from every Breeders’ Cupcake sold in stores will go to CARMA, a charitable organization formed to assist Thoroughbred rehabilitation and retirement organizations that care for and retrain horses who raced in California and whose racing careers have ended. Additionally, Breeders’ Cupcakes will be available at the “Taste of LA” culinary event, which takes place in the Seabiscuit Court area during the two-day Championships at Santa Anita.
“For the past four years, The Breeders’ Cupcake has been a fun tradition during the World Championships Weekend, and we’re excited to partner again with Annette Starbuck and her talented team of Goodie Girls bakers for a second year,” said Peter Rotondo, Breeders’ Cup Vice President of Media and Entertainment.
“We had so much fun participating last year, and we’re thrilled to be collaborating again with the Breeders’ Cup in providing their attendees with our cupcakes,” said Annette Starbuck, Goodie Girls’ owner. “With the collection of minis, we’re also able to expand our offerings and create a sweet way for fans both on and off the race track to celebrate this premiere event with some delicious desserts!”
The Breeders’ Cupcake Collection will be on sale today through November 2 at Goodie Girls Glendale (415 E. Broadway, #100), the new La Cañada Flintridge location (637 W. Foothill Blvd.), and at Breeders’ Cup events, October 29-November 2. Breeders’ Cupcakes can also be ordered by calling (818) 545-0434 in Glendale or (818) 790-7718 in La Cañada.
