Learn About complying with CA’s Workplace Violence Prevention Mandate from Paul P. Cheng & Associates
– NEW UPDATES – Complying with California’s Workplace Violence Prevention Mandate
As of July 1, 2024, California Labor Code section 6401.9 mandates covered employers to adhere to the California Workplace Violence Prevention for General Industry program. It is imperative for employers to ascertain their coverage status and comply accordingly. Exemptions can be reviewed in Section 6401.9(b)(2).
“…(c) (1) (A) Employers must create, execute, and uphold a robust workplace violence prevention plan. (B) This plan must be documented, easily accessible, and made available to employees, authorized employee representatives, and division representatives at all times.”
Covered employers are required to create and execute a workplace violence prevention plan customized to their workplace. The development of this plan mandates active employee involvement in both its creation and implementation phases. Employee training sessions are to be conducted upon initial plan implementation and subsequently on an annual basis.
To ensure compliance, covered employers must provide comprehensive training to their employees based on a business-specific Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP). To facilitate this process, we offer the following resources:
- Complete the fillable WVPP worksheet tailored to your location, ensuring it encapsulates pertinent information.
- Contact us today to schedule a WVPP training session for all employees. Our comprehensive training covers essential topics through interactive scenarios, ensuring your employees are equipped to handle workplace violence effectively.
