Melodia Mariposa presents Altadena Strong w/ the Lyris Quartet
What a What a terrible difference a month makes…
Just a month ago, in our January newsletter, we were laying out an exciting timetable for 2025. Just a few weeks before we were celebrating the holidays in style with our third Annual Holiday Concert at the Altadena Town and Country Club and now our community lies in ruins.
The team at Melodia Mariposa offers our heartfelt condolences to all those who have experienced overwhelming loss. We are also displaced and Irina has lost her home.
We want you all to know that Melodia Mariposa intends to rebuild along with the rest of Altadena. In these impossible times, we want to offer the calming and inspiring power of music to help with the renewal of our town.
Amongst so much personal loss, we have lost many of our concert venues. We have lost the William D. Davies Building in Farnsworth Park. We have lost St. Marks Church. We have lost the Altadena Town and Country Club.
We have not, however, lost the Westminster Presbyterian Church and we want to announce that we intend to present the Lyris Quartet as planned on February 16th at 4pm. As ever, we want as many people as possible to be able to hear this wonderful music and so tickets will remain free, however, we will be holding a collection for the fire victims at the concert.
