Car lovers of every age will find something to their taste at this year’s Taste of Arcadia on Sept. 22, 2014, from pre-1916 horseless carriages to the brand new BMW i3, as well as giant RVs and the newest Airstream and Mercedes Interstate luxury road coaches.
Airstream Los Angeles is sponsoring a much larger and more elaborate Monday Night Football Lounge on the south lawn, with big screen TVs mounted on the side of a 25-foot high-tech Airstream trailer available for tours inside. Framing one side of the lounge will be an Airstream Interstate luxury Mercedes Benz-based coach, also available for tours.
The newest model cars will be on display around the Arboretum fountain from a record five car dealers, including the much-anticipated BMW EV i3 with a carbon fiber body but no carbon footprint despite 170 HP and power to go from 0-60 mph in just seven seconds.
BMW of Monrovia, a Gold Sponsor of this year’s Taste of Arcadia, will also display its new X5 and M4 models, all pending availability.
Longo Toyota-Scion-Lexus returns with the Lexus IS Convertible and the new 2015 Toyota RAV4. New entries Volkswagen Pasadena plans to display the new 2015 GTI and Golf, as well as a vehicle equipped with the VW TDI clean diesel technology engine). Advantange Ford Lincoln also joins the event, as does Thorson Motor Center.
Thorson will show off the new GMC Yukon Denali as well as a Buick Encore.
Coming full circle, a 1926 American LaFrance fire engine originally owned by the L.A. County Fire Department that was purchased in the 1950s by the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce for donation in equal shares to the city and the Arcadia Firefighters Association, will be on display at this annual Chamber event. In addition, the Arcadia Police Department‘s 1959 Ford Galaxie police car co-maintained and promoted by the Arcadia Historical Society, will also be showcased.
Wayne Williams’ Professional Advisory Services, which last year presented an impressive display of classic cars of the 1950s, returns as a Silver Sponsor this year with eight huge horseless carriages from the 1910s:

- 1910 Model T Ford owned by Wes and Susan Buck of Monrovia
- 1912 Model T Ford from Ted and Raquel Walters of Sierra Madre

- 1913 Overland Touring Model 69 from Jim and Donna Diener of Pasadena
- 1913 Oldsmobile owned by Barbara and Gerald Hosterman of Pasadena
- and a 20HP 1910 Stanley Steamer Model 70 from Loren and Shawna Burch of Pasadena.
And VJ’s Auto Service will be set up in front of a giant 40-foot RV as a dramatic way to demonstrate that the shop also repairs RVs.
Taste of Arcadia, the community’s signature event that draws about 1,300 guests.
All you can eat and drink for 3 1/2-hours for one entry price. Tickets are $70 now and $75 at the gate ($20 discount for Chamber members). Taste of Arcadia offers food, drinks and desserts of every variety from four dozen local restaurants, bars, caterers, wine and beer vendors and distributors, hotels, and even retirement homes and a hospital. No money changes hands at the food booths lined up in the idyllic lush Los Angeles County Arboretum setting nestled on the soft green grass surrounding the beautiful Bauer Fountain.
