The community is invited to join the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce and the City of Arcadia in a celebration of the 1965 dedication of the iconic round, all-glass Chamber office building at 388 W. Huntington Drive. Register here to attend.
At that dedication 50 years ago a time capsule was buried with instructions to be opened Nov. 12, 2015, so that’s what we will do at 12 noon. There will also be food and drinks, music of the era provided courtesy of Dance Syndicate Entertainment, and tours of the completely remodeled interior of the building (along with historical photos and slides), and the newly installed showcase for drought-tolerant landscaping from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The Chamber will also make a few brief presentations to the City of Arcadia, which owns the building and the land and provided all the improvements, as well as certificates of appreciation to more than a dozen members who joined and remained members since 1965 and earlier, and to the Rotary Club of Arcadia, whose volunteers built the sunken patio behind the building, and the Lions Club.
Arcadia Chamber members Twohey’s and Embassy Suites Arcadia will be providing plenty of delicious lunch food and drinks at no charge to attendees.
The 1950s-style Twohey’s diner has a new retro-style food truck featuring the restaurant’s famous soda fountain that will be serving smoked Texas pulled pork sliders, homemade kettle chips, Twohey’s famous bittersweet hot fudge sundaes, and the restaurant’s award-winning lemonade.
The truck in the parking lot of the Chamber will also play 1960s music familiar to many of the customers Twohey’s has been serving since 1943. The unique mobile car hop features a top-of-the-line sound system and flat screen TVs.
The new truck available for parties, tailgates and other events, offers a variety of menus, including classic burgers, barbecue fare and our famous, award-winning soda fountain and hot fudge sundaes – or customize and create your own menu!
Additionally, Embassy Suites is offering its Taste of Arcadia award-winning quinoa, chicken sliders, beef/lamb sliders and their famous delicious Embassy brownie bites!
And deejay John Villa of Dance Syndicate Entertainment will be spinning the most fun and familiar tunes from 1965!
