Updates on Arcadia Community Center and Public Library Services
The Arcadia Community Center is serving as a resource center for residents affected by the Eaton Fire. It will be open today, January 10, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing a space for residents to charge devices, connect to Wi-Fi and make alternative shelter arrangements. The Arcadia Public Library is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., today, for similar services.
Please note that the Arcadia Community Center and the Arcadia Public Library are not shelters and are not housing those displaced by the fires.
The Red Cross opened an emergency shelter at the Pomona Fairplex (1101 W. McKinley Avenue, Pomona, CA 91768). The Fairplex also has a large animal shelter for those with pets. Access the Pomona Fairplex shelter through the Sheraton entrance, Gate 3. Call (909) 623-3111 for more information.
The Pasadena Convention Center is also still open and accepting evacuees (300 E. Green Street, Pasadena, CA 91101). Parking is available across the street at 155 E. Green St, with access via Marengo Avenue. Pasadena Humane is on-site for pet boarding, and service animals are allowed inside the Convention Center.
Although the City of Arcadia truly appreciates the generous donations of food and other items, we are currently overwhelmed. We strongly encourage those who feel inclined to donate to consider the following organizations:
- The LA Food Bank is accepting financial and food donations. To learn more about donating, visit www.lafoodbank.org/fire.
- Pasadena Humane is in need of monetary donations for animals who are in need of emergency medical care, which may be made at give.pasadenahumane.org/fire. Needed items can also be purchased from Pasadena Humane’s Amazon Wishlist at pasadenahumane.org/wishlist.
