Updated April 21, 2015: Celebrate the 1920s flapper era courtesy of Santa Anita Gardens Catering at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23. The Arcadia Chamber of Commerce 1920s themed business mixer/ribbon-cutting will include food, drinks, music, prizes and a special appearance by officials from the City of Arcadia.
Model A cars will roll up in front of Prince Erik Hall shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday to deliver officials from the City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce to a Great Gatsby-like party. Upon arriving, guests will be greeted at the front entrance of this iconic home at 2607 South Santa Anita Avenue in Arcadia by eight Arcadia High School students clad in period costumes dancing in 1920s flapper styles to Charleston dance music.
Officials will participate in a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the current home of Santa Anita Gardens Catering in the former home of the Prince of Denmark in 1924 (behind the Arcadia Congregational Church).
Attendees at the free Business Mixer will be transported to another time and place as they walk through the main house to the outdoor canopy, where an extravaganza of food, drink, music and give-away prizes await. Among the many delicious offerings: crab cakes, carved beef sandwiches, selections by Ace Sushi, and a pasta bar. There will also be a wheel of good fortune for prize drawings. And let’s not forget the DJ, as well as specialty drinks from the bar called “The Prince” (alcoholic) and “The Pauper” (non-alcoholic).
Contributing vendors include Flowers by Sharon, Arcadia Car Club, DJ Rio and MC Yoli.
Attendees are also invited to wear hats and/or clothing of the era as an option. Arcadia Chamber member Vintage Treasures & Antiques of Arcadia at 340 E. Foothill Blvd., which offers a wide selection of such vintage apparel and jewelry, is offering a 15% discount to Chamber members.
Chamber members are also invited to bring a raffle prize that they may self-announce at the event.
