With great anticipation and the support of the Arcadian community Mike Reiling cut the ribbon to Mt. Lowe Brewing Co., and thus marked the opening of Arcadia’s first microbrewery. Mike and his associates were welcomed to Arcadia by Peter Amundson, Mayor of Arcadia, Arcadia Council Members Tom Beck, Sho Tay and April Verlato, the members of the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce as well as Adam Hsu, field representative to Assemblymember Ed Chau.
The subtle exterior of Mt. Lowe Brewing Co. hides Arcadia’s newest gem, a breathtaking interior truly conveys the old-timey and rustic aesthetic Mike envisioned when he chose the name Mt. Lowe. The origin of the name was the product of Mike’s fascination with history, it’s derived from the old Mount Lowe Railway which provided people with a scenic tram ride of the San Gabriel Mountains in the early 1900s.
The arrival of Mt. Lowe Brewing Co. comes at a perfect time for both the city and the business. Mike stated that it was his familiarity with Arcadia, the newly installed Gold Line Station, and the accommodations of the facility that drew him to Arcadia. In turn Arcadia was eagerly waiting for the arrival of a business like Mt. Lowe to incorporate into their developing Downtown area. It was only within the span of a couple of years that Mt. Lowe was able to set up its operations.
Mike envisions his brewing company as heavily community focused. They have plans to be a part of the upcoming Downtown Arcadia Patriotic Festival. The design of the tasting room includes plenty of sitting areas as well as a collection of board games. foosball, air hockey and darts. Mike comments on this by saying, “We wanted the tasting room to be comfortable, a place for the whole family.” For more information on the upcoming custom brews please give them a call at (626) 244-7593.
