The Arcadia Chinese Association once again put on an enjoyable and entertaining annual fundraiser gala Nov. 1.
For the first time the ACA staged the event at the elegantly-decorated DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, which provided a beautiful setting and delicious food.
President Francine Chiu and co-President Shelley Liu hosted the event wearing gorgeous gowns that would have been standouts on any red carpet.
Among the dignitaries presenting certificates of appreciation were Congresswoman Judy Chu, Assembly Member Ed Chau (who lives in Arcadia), Mayor John Wuo, and Arcadia Chamber of Commerce CEO Scott Hettrick.
Wuo was one of many good-natured volunteers from the audience asked to participate in an engaging magic show by Anthony Hernandez and the AH Illusions team. Other entertainment included two young children ballroom dancers called Cory Poon and Iris Lu, and award-winning teenager Emily Muramoto singing “I Could Have Danced All Night.” There was much more entertainment and many raffle prizes.
Chiu and Liu also presented donation checks to nine organizations: AUW Arcadia Tech Trek; Arcadia Education Foundation; Arcadia Historical Museum Foundation; Arcadia White Christmas; Arcadia Public Library Summer Reading Program; Assistance League Arcadia; Foothill Unity Center; Friends of Live Oak Library Summer Reading Program; and Methodist Hospital Foundation.
