For the second straight year your Arcadia Chamber of Commerce jumped three more notches among the top Chambers of Commerce in Los Angeles County to #32 in the annual ranking of the top 50 Chambers by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Arcadia is fourth among all San Gabriel Valley Chambers after Alhambra, Pasadena, and Montebello.
David Nusbaum ranks the Chambers by budget. Last year the Arcadia Chamber was ranked #35 and before that #38. It’s the fourth year in a row of improvement as the Arcadia Chamber’s budget has increased more than $60,000 during that time to $361,000 this year. If the ranking was by number of members, the Arcadia Chamber’s 510 members would rank among the top 20, another jump up from the top 25 last year. For the fourth year in a row, Nusbaum highlighted the Arcadia Chamber’s listing, this time with a note about the Arcadia Chamber’s upcoming celebration of the 1965 dedication of the Chamber’s iconic office building and the opening of a time capsule buried 50 years ago.
Arcadia ranks higher than most other neighboring and nearby San Gabriel Valley chambers, including South Pasadena at #35 and La Canada Flintridge at #40. Irwindale held steady at #41 despite a slight budget increase to $280,000. San Dimas moved up a notch to #45 because last year’s #45, Covina, dropped four spots to #49 with its budget not budging from $250,000. El Monte/South El Monte also jumped three spots to $#47 this year at the expense of Monrovia, which missed the top 50 list along with Chambers in Duarte, Temple City, and Azusa.
Alhambra, with a population of 90,000, once again ranks 10th with a budget of nearly $942,000 from only 430 members. Pasadena (population 152,000) bumped up a notch to 14th with 1,450 members and a budget $650,000. Montebello (population 66,000) has only 300 members but a budget of $376,000. Arcadia’s population is about 57,000.
