Assemblymember Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park) presented eight outstanding women and one community organization with the 2016 Women’s History Month Leadership Award during a ceremony in the City of Monterey Park. The awards presented were in recognition of distinguished service to the 49th Assembly District in the areas of community service, business, public safety, education, historic preservation, non-profit sector, and women’s empowerment. The recipients of this distinguished recognition were:
Annabelle Chu, Acute Psychiatric Registered Nurse, Community Volunteer; Charlene Lin Ung, Engineering Manager, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory; Coronne Jacob, Captain, Los Angeles County Sheriff Department; Dee Moreno, Instructional Resource Specialist, La Rosa Elementary School, Co-Founder, CS First Club; Nickie Oh, Teacher, La Rosa Elementary School, Co-Founder, CS First Club; Gay Q. Yuen, Ph.D, President, Chinese American Museum, Professor, California State University, Los Angeles; Sally Baldwin, Asian Youth Center, Advisory Board; Valarie Gomez, CEO, YMCA of West San Gabriel Valley; Soroptimist International of Alhambra, San Gabriel and San Marino, dedicated to empowering women and girls to achieve their full potential.
