Chef Alexander Reyes and his wife Lisa, and his parents and children welcomed the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce and a handful of political dignitaries to a ribbon-cutting Wednesday (Aug. 28, 2013) for his new Saute Culinary Academy cooking school for all ages at 14 E. Duarte Road, just East of Santa Anita Avenue on the South side of the road, a couple shops past the 7-Eleven/Shell gas station (plenty of parking in the rear).
Chef Reyes, who leads classes on cooking all manner of dishes from scratch and offers classes night and day almost every day of the week, said that moving quickly around a sometimes crowded kitchen, especially with multiple students all cooking at once, is like a ballet of choreographed motion. His students are sometimes initially nervous or skeptical but by the end all of them are great friends and wind up sitting, eating and laughing together.
