Supervisor Barger has named R-lene Mijares de Lang as the County’s Fifth District Woman of the Year, recognizing her as an outstanding role model for the 5.2 million women who live in L.A. County.
Mijares Mexican Restaurant has the distinction of being the oldest Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles County, turning 104 years old this year. It is also the oldest Mexican restaurant in the city of Pasadena, and is the oldest operating Mexican restaurant in the state of California. The restaurant was started in 1920 by Jesucita Mijares, R-lene’s grandmother.
