Seven new members joined the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce in May and two of them were personally introduced to the Ambassadors yesterday, June 2, 2015, by Personal Ambassador Ivan Lai of Cruise Planners.
The members were introduced following the regular monthly meeting of the volunteer Ambassadors led by Chairman Rich Jones of the San Marino Tribune.

Here are the two new members we met:
- Camille Wallace and Monserrat Cruz representing new member Yoobi were present to accept the new member plaque. Yoobi, pronounced “you-be,” means “one for you, one for me.” Yoobi launched in June 2014 as an awesome new school supply company that engages kids through bright colors, cool designs, and most importantly, cause. Yoobi supplies are available at Target stores and at yoobi.com.
For every Yoobi item you purchase, a Yoobi item is donated to a classroom in need, right here in the U.S. More than 500,000 supplies were donated to kids in need in the company’s first year in business. The new Yoobi store will donate supplies to schools within a ten-mile radius of the new Arcadia store at the Westfield Santa Anita mall right next to the Disney Store. It will be the first branded retail outlet for Yoobi when it has its Grand Opening on June 20.
The company offers 110 products, including supplies for adults. They are about to expand with another 350 wonderful products, including backpacks and head phones.
They also have a fun Yoobi bus that rolls up to selected events.
Like so many others, the company chose Arcadia and Westfield Santa Anita to open its first branded retail outlet, and right next to the Disney Store. The Grand Opening is set for June 20.
Marketing coordinator Monserrat Cruz is a former resident of Arcadia and even learned much of her English from Lifetime Arcadia Chamber Ambassador Mary Hansen – what a small world! Yoobi’s goal is to support more than 400 local classrooms in this store’s first year, impacting more than 12,000 elementary students.
Camille Wallace is the manager of the new store and is thrilled to be working for a brand that gives back to the community.
- Aaron Rose is the founder of Mavin Learning Center located at 909 S. Santa Anita Avenue #A in Arcadia (just north of Duarte Road at the corner of Campus Road). Mavin offers one-on-one personalized instruction and tutoring. In addition, they are actively engaged in college counseling with students. They help a student figure out what classes to take and activities in which to be involved so that the student can be more competitive when it comes to getting into college. They help students assess what schools fit their needs financially and academically.
Aaron notes that the largest debt category these days is student loan debt. Aaron and his team want to insure that students and their parents don’t end up shackled with debt and a worthless degree. Mavin also works closely with students on test prep. Their goal is simple: “to create learners today, leaders tomorrow, one student at a time.”
It should be noted that Aaron also does an international exchange program where they take teachers to China twice a year. In fact, Aaron lived there for 12 years and speaks the language. He would like to see the creation of true cultural exchange programs. You can reach Aaron at 626-821-9181 and the website is www.mavinlearning.com
