Retail spending was up in all categories in Arcadia in the fourth quarter of 2014 (October – December) compared to the same period a year ago, except for revenue from gas due to lower prices in the period, according to the quarterly sales tax update from the City of Arcadia (see below).
Overall actual sales activity was up 5.2% and it was even higher than that — 8.2% when factoring in revenue from one-time aberration spending.
Once again 11 of the top 25 performers are stores at Westfield Santa Anita mall: Victoria’s Secret, Michael Kors, Abercrombie & Fitch, Forever 21, Sephora, Sport Chalet, Foot Locker, Macy’s, JC Penney, and Nordstrom, and restaurant Cheesecake Factory.
Another restaurant on the list regularly is Din Tai Fung dumpling house, which will be adding a third outlet in Arcadia later this year — at the mall.
Although specific data and ranking of each entity is not made available publicly, Rusnak Arcadia Mercedes-Benz is known to have long been by far the top sales tax generator in Arcadia. Santa Anita Park, under the official name of Los Angeles Turf Club, is also almost always on the list. As are grocery stores, including Pavilions and two Ralphs outlets. And despite the drop in gas prices, several stations made the list again: Mobil and two Arco stations: AM/PM and John’s Arco.

Meanwhile, statewide sales tax was up 5.1% in 2014-15 and 4% in April 2015, with projections for an increase of 2.9% in fiscal year 2015-16, according to an HdL companies Consensus forecast (below).
