This month’s Networking Breakfast was a rousing success. Close to 60 business owners gathered at the Santa Anita Golf Course to network at this popular monthly gathering sponsored by Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary. All were greeted by a trio of exotic Brazilian dancers led by Daniela Brazil as a tease for Brazil’s planned Carnivale-type parade and dance show with six dancers at Taste of Arcadia. The Taste event was the topic of the day and more than 80 tickets were sold for a one-time price of $40 to attendees! This grand epicurean event will take place on Monday, Sept. 22 at the LA Arboretum. Rod Salazar of Stubbies Promotions served as the emcee and kept the meeting moving and fun. Guests dined on a delicious buffet breakfast in the Sunset Room that included plenty of coffee to go around. Everyone in the room had the opportunity to stand up and do a 30-second “elevator pitch” (verbal commercial) touting their businesses. Arcadia Historical Society Vice President Carol Libby and Arcadia Chamber of Commerce CEO Scott Hettrick presented the Arcadia Business Icon award to Monty Cleaners, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year!
Taste of Arcadia CTO (Chief Taste Officer) Bruce McCallum led a parade of speakers who briefly and succinctly sung the praises of the upcoming Taste. Bruce is chairing the Taste committee this year and introduced Peter Dills, the official King of Cuisine who hosts a radio food show on KLLA Am 830 and is the official food and wine expert for the Taste of Arcadia. Chamber board member Sylvia Ramos of Dilbeck Realtors, who is heading up the food/beverage vendors committee this year, described all the record number of new and returning food, beer and wine offerings at Taste. Chamber Vice President Vicki Knight of Century Rooter Service and Plumbing spoke about the great Business Showcase at the Taste that will highlight a myriad of local businesses including a record six new auto dealers and a record 46 vendors. Chamber CEO Scott Hettrick talked about the fabulous entertainment on tap for this year’s Taste of Arcadia, including Lounge-O-Rama, Brazilian dancers, the Monday Night Football Lounge featuring huge Airstreams, eight pre-1916 horseless carriages on display courtesy of Professional Advisory Services’ Wayne Williams, and ballroom dancers from Havin’ a Ball studio at the mall. Guests will also be able to enjoy the Red Carpet Experience once again sponsored by Jerry Dominguez of Printing Control upon entering the Taste.
