Brad Jensen, director of Public Policy for the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership will provide a preview of next year’s important ballot measures and give an update on the sale and transfer of Ontario International Airport back to the City of Ontario at the monthly Arcadia Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Forum at 8 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3.
His presentation is entitled: Ballot Measure Armageddon: Taxes, Marijuana, and the 2016 Statewide Ballot.
The 2016 ballot will have the most initiatives in over a decade, with at least 20 measures likely to qualify. California voters will vote on the legalization of marijuana, adding a new cigarette tax, approving a school construction bond, and extending the Prop 30 income taxes. L.A. County voters will also vote on a new sales tax to fund transportation projects throughout the County.
The public is invited at 8 a.m. on the first Thursday of each month (except July & August) to hear free informative presentations at the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Government Affairs Forum sponsored by Keystone 365 Sponsor Singpoli. Led by Chairman Jack Orswell from Orswell & Kasman, Inc. Environmental Assessments & Consulting, the Forums are held in the Chamber’s conference room sponsored by Foothill Credit Union.
A discussion of pending legislation and other updates will be provided by representatives from City, County, and State government offices, the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension and the Monrovia-Arcadia-Duarte Town Council.
