The donations preceded a presentation to the 30 attendees on the future of Internet-based digital business services such as the “cloud” by Richard Potanco, Jr. of IT Systemhouse at the monthly Chamber Networking Breakfast at the Sunset Room of the Santa Anita Golf Course sponsored by Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary. Kevin Lee of IT Systemhouse informed attendees of a work-in-progress IT Arcadia program in partnership with the Chamber that would offer Chamber members an IT service for small business owners at discount rates.
L.A. County Arboretum CEO Richard Schulhof accepted a donation from Chamber Executive Director Scott Hettrick, who thanked the Arboretum for the continued use of the spectacular facility for the Taste event each year. Hettrick said this year’s Taste of Arcadia was the third biggest financial success ever. Other donations went to:
- Assistance League of Arcadia, accepted by Mary Dougherty
- Rotary Club of Arcadia, accepted by former President Bruce McCallum
- Los Voluntarios Arboretum volunteers, accepted by Lauragene Swenson, who is also the columnist for The Weekly Star and provided the group photo in gallery above.
- Methodist Hospital, accepted by Doneva Garcia
Also at the Breakfast Chamber Ambassador and Business Showcase at the Taste chairperson Vicki Knight of Century Rooter Services and Plumbing presented certificates of appreciation to members who renewed their annual Chamber dues on time, resident Ann Durgerian and Hettrick for his Arcadia’s Best web site and e-newsletter.
As always, each attendee gave a 30-second introduction of themselves at the beginning of the program, and more than a half-dozen attendees won nice raffle prizes provided by other attendees.
Your Chamber All Access Pass grants you free admission to the Networking Breakfasts, which are $15 for members and $20 for non-members. All attendees should RSVP by the previous Friday as food must be prepared. Payments may be made here online.
