EWD Pulse Newsletter – Colleges Assess for Job Training Capacities
California’s Community Colleges (CCC) are on the front lines for workforce development efforts, as the LA region launches its rebuilding phase after the devastating 2025 wildfires. Most of the clean-up work has been done, and the County is issuing permits for the construction of the new homes and business buildings. There remain many hurdles, however, and the goal of a completely rebuilt community is still many years away.
However, the current situation also presents an unmatched opportunity to find jobs and careers in these building and construction industries. For the past year, the Centers of Excellence have compiled job- and workforce-related data that shows massive demand for workers but a woeful lack of supply. The CCCs are hard at work to build those workforce pipelines so the rebuilding process can continue unabated.
On today’s Podcast we are talking to Ali Mir, Senior Vice President and Regional Planning Lead for LA Transit, about LA’s changing transportation sector. And, as usual on The EWD Pulse website, you’ll find information about how the fires have interrupted and are redirecting the region’s many construction industries.
