Pasadena City College EWD Pulse Newsletter – LA’s Construction Industry Evolves
Greetings!
Building – and rebuilding – are part of California’s past – and future:
- Recovery from LA’s January wildfires continues on, as do efforts to rebuild
- Paradise and other fire-affected localities.
- At the same time, age and excess usage have eroded the quality of other CA assets, including its road and air systems.
- And the absence of internet access requires the development of a whole new digital system to connect the entire state to a reliable internet resource.
These are just a few of the projects currently underway in California, and all of them require both materials and a well-trained workforce to be completed in full.
As is its custom, California sees opportunity in virtually every situation, and its focus on rebuilding after recent disasters demonstrates this dedication. Its effort comes none too soon: not only must lives continue on after wildfire devastation, but the region is preparing for the onslaught of the 2028 Olympics. There is much to be done to achieve success on both fronts.
In this edition of the Pulse, you’ll hear the CEO of CA FWD, Kate Gordon, discuss how clean energy plays into the State’s future. You’ll also find further discussion on the workforce developments being driven by both past disasters and future opportunities on our website, EWD Pulse.
